6. Sunken Gardens

Touted as St. Petersburg’s oldest living museum, the 100-year-old Sunken Garden has some of the region’s oldest tropical plants.

These gardens are a tropical haven of 4 acres of twisting trails, waterfalls, and ponds. The Cactus Garden includes a tortoise habitat and a butterfly courtyard.

You will not be the only ones strolling around, as the flamingo flock will be in attendance, too.

The sunken garden was started in 1903 when a local plumber bought the property and drained the lake to get to the fertile soil at the bottom of the lake.

He then began planting his sea-level garden and, by 1920, had created a tropical paradise.

Take your time and stroll through this wondrous creation as you contemplate your togetherness.
